Well, for the past couple of months, we've been preparing for this..."No more binkies when you're three!" We've been building it up as much as we can, getting excited about it (hoping it would get a little someone excited too!), and trying to decide the best approach. So, here's our plan:
We decided that we would not...NOT...try to get rid of the binkies on her actual birthday. I mean, who wants an extra crabby 3-year-old at daycare?! So, over a weekend made the most sense to us. Well, her birthday party is next weekend, and we didn't want to make her extra tired for that, so this weekend it is...yay.
Anyway, we've been building it up EXTRA especially this week: talking about it every night, asking, "Aren't you so excited, big girl?", planning our birthday day at the zoo on Sunday, talking about the big girl birthday party next week, etc., etc.
We've also been decorating our "Celebration" plate thingy in the kitchen...you know, one of those write-on, wipe-off plates that you can hang for different holidays and such? Well, last night was the LAST NIGHT with the binkies!!! On Sunday, at the zoo, we're going to "build" a stuffed animal that will save all of Lanie's binkies for her in its belly...we're just hoping she doesn't try to chew through it in the night:)!
