32 For You, Leslie ;-)

Okay, 32 "I" Statements:

1. I am not as big of a fan of Summer School as I used to be.

2. I am not necessarily addicted to Facebook, but I do enjoy looking at what people put up, and using it to look at/share pictures.

3. I am, however, addicted to the Twilight-phenom :-)

4. I did not enjoy starting my day with Lanie, crying at the door, telling me I needed to stay home and read her a book and help her on her scooter this morning...I don't know if she's getting to be more clingy, she is just tired and not in the mood in the morning, or what, but let's just say I'm glad Summer School and camp end next Friday

5. I am so blessed to have the family and friends that I have...so many people have "stepped up" this summer to help us with the girls, and it's been wonderful (kinda feel like I should move this to #1)

6. I miss my out of town friends. This goes along with another statement...

7. I wish Kev would be more willing to go visit people out of town and do stuff. I think we'd stay home every night if he had his way...actually, I KNOW we would :-)

8. I like lunchables :-)

9. I found a new favorite kind of tortilla chip when trying to buy the cheapest..."On the Border" chips are awesome :-)!

10. I really want to take Lanie for a girls trip to Chicago to get an American Girl doll...the girl of the year is named Lanie, and I think turning 5 is the perfect time

11. I sometimes wish I had 24 hours worth of energy to match the day

12. I think Lily is teething, but I'm not sure...I try to remember where Lanie was at this age, but it's hard--I feel like I should have marked it down or something, and I know I did with some stuff, but not everything. I guess we'll see

13. I really want to see the new Toy Story movie, and I think I may have convinced Kev to go this weekend...now we just need a sitter :-)!

14. I keep hearing the rumor that there won't be summer school or camp next year due to the economy. Part of me is kinda glad, because then I could find something different to do...of course, money-wise school and camp have been good to me, so that's hard to give up :-) But I thnk I could adjust if I had to

15. I have, in an effort to be more responsible (insert snicker here), decided to save my receipts for a week, and record my spending. It is amazing to me how quickly it adds up! A stop for a soda here, a quick run in to Walgreens there, etc. I have heard that this helps one to be smarter about their money, so hopefully it will rub off!

16. I LOVE Wicked!

17. I read a couple of books recently by Jen Lancaster, and I think she is HILARIOUS!! I actually laughed out loud while reading her book Such a Pretty Fat. She is definitely not for those who are not fans of the cursing, but she bring a smile to my face :-)

18. I saw the preview for the last two Harry Potter movies, and I am psyched!! Now, if only I can hang on until November...and then July...

19. I like Fridays

20. I am writing this over two days due to distractions, so I had to read back over some of my statements...still hold true :-)

21. I am amazed at how much neater and "cleaner" Lanie's work is then some of the 1st/2nd graders I have in Summer School...guess that's why they're here

22. I'm a little nervous about how the live action adaptation of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is going to go...it's really a classic, and I'm not sure a full movie is necessary

23. I am getting to the stage of the summer when I start thinking about the next school year: how I want to arrange my room, what kinds of "units" I want to have, who my students are going to be, etc. It's weird how even though I'm not enjoying Summer School, I still look forward to heading back to the usual routine of Buder

24. I am excited for Lanie to go to her New New School--yes, I know I wrote "New" twice. She started at a new school this past year, and they started building a new facility in August 2009. See? It IS her New New School :-) Anway, she's so thrilled with it and excited about it, that it helps me know that it's the right thing for her...yay us!

25. I am so glad that Lanie and Lily are as happy together as they are. Both of them are absolutely IN LOVE with the other--Lily will hardly eat if Lanie's in the room and she can't see her. Lanie gets upset if Lily isn't going with us somewhere, and NO ONE can make Lily laugh like Lanie can...It's everything I've hoped for and more!

26. I just looked at a friend's photo album of her trip to the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida, and it looks AWESOME!!

27. I am amazed that no matter how many notes/reminders/etc. you send home or give some families, they still don't remember when you do/don't have school

28. I read a quote last week that I LOVE (I'm going to try and write it correctly, but it may be a bit off, but you'll get the idea) "Oh, Normal Day...let me be aware of the treasure that you are" So true!

29. I am watching "Fantasia 2000" with my students right now, and I love how much they're enjoying the music and cartoons--I'd feel bad for not "really teaching", but I know so many of them 1) probably won't ever watch this movie otherwise, and 2) wouldn't be exposed to these songs/composers if teachers didn't "help out"...yet one more reason why I'm sad about all of the things the schools have taken away (field trips, assemblies, materials, etc.) You tell us we're responsible for their learning, and then don't give us the tools...Um, hello??!!

30. I will turn 35 on my next birthday (1/12/11) While I've never been one to get upset about a birthday, I will say 35 is a lot different than 18...I think I shall need to party :-)

31. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this picture my cousin, Ashley took of me, Kev, and Lanie at my sister's wedding--it's such a great representation of us and how we were as a family of 3, and I can't wait to find "that picture" of us as our new family of 4 :-)

32. I am aware that part of me wants a change in my career (new position, new job, something), but I also am scared/nervous about leaving the school I've called home since 1999...it would be like leaving an old friend...I guess we'll see what the future holds, and just how much I'm willing to change...

And one to grow on...

33. I love you, my dear friend, Leslie! May you have more happiness than you need in your future days!!
